Chandlers Ford Scouts District
Scouting is a very important part of the community and many young people benefit from all that goes on in the Chandlers Ford Scout District.
The Scout Movement, is now a worldwide youth movement started in 1907 when Robert Baden-Powell, a Lieutenant General in the British Army, held the first Scouting encampment at Brownsea Island (an Island situated in Poole Harbour, Dorset), with the stated aim of supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, so that they may learn to play constructive roles within society.
Chandlers Ford Scout District have 5 very successful Scout Groups with great leaders. The ages of the young people range from 6-18 years old and in total with Leaders they number over 600 in the district.
1st Chandlers Ford (Brickfield)
3rd Chandlers Ford (Kings Road)
4th Chandlers Ford (Hiltingbury)
15th Chandlers Ford (Otterbourne)
However, there are so many requests for young people to join that all the Groups have very long waiting lists and we are not able to put them on lists unless they are younger than about 2 years old.
Therefore, they are appealing for more Adults who are willing to become trained Leaders, so that the district can open new sections and offer more places!
All training will be provided and Uniform usually provided too. The FUN side is permanent and the experiences for everyone are unforgettable.
I will meet with anyone interested and explain further or check our website www.chandlersfordscouts.org.uk
Many thanks
Yours In Scouting
